Bio

Mehr Shah, MD is a board-certified pediatrician and fellowship-trained allergist and immunologist dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to patients of all ages. Dr. Shah earned her combined B.A. and M.D. degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she graduated summa cum laude and was recognized as a Dean’s Honor Student. She completed her pediatrics residency at Washington University in St. Louis/St. Louis Children’s Hospital, participating in the Global Health Track, followed by an Allergy and Immunology fellowship at Washington University. Through her training, she has developed deep expertise in managing complex allergic and immunologic conditions, with a special focus on improving the quality of life for her patients and their families.

Dr. Shah is actively engaged in advancing the field of allergy and immunology through research, education, and leadership. She has contributed to studies on pediatric eosinophilic esophagitis and genetic testing in primary antibody deficiencies, with her work published in respected journals. She has also led quality improvement projects aimed at optimizing asthma education and penicillin allergy management, demonstrating her commitment to enhancing patient outcomes. As an active member of multiple committees with the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (AAAAI) and hospital organizations, Dr. Shah strives to improve patient care standards and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in medicine.

In addition to her clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Shah is passionate about medical education and mentorship. She has developed multilingual asthma action plans, authored handbooks for residents and fellows, and collaborated internationally to create medical education resources for healthcare professionals in Rwanda. Her involvement with initiatives such as the AAAAI Chrysalis Project and ACAAI SPARK program underscores her dedication to guiding the next generation of healthcare providers.

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Shah enjoys creative and active pursuits. She can often be found at the pottery wheel, in a barre class, or experimenting with nutritious recipes inspired by her love of baking and community gardening. Her well-rounded approach to life reflects her commitment to wellness, balance, and community.
