Bio

Dr. Alan W. James is a board-certified allergist with more than 20 years of experience in caring for patients with allergies, asthma, and immunological disorders. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine before completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York. Following residency, Dr. James pursued a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, where he gained extensive training in diagnosing and managing complex allergic and immunological conditions.

Throughout his career, Dr. James has held both academic and clinical leadership roles, including serving as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Allergy and Immunology. He has provided care across a wide range of clinical environments, from academic medical centers to community practices, gaining expertise in both complex and routine allergy and asthma management. Over nearly two decades in the Midwest, he advanced allergy and asthma services, developed patient-centered treatment programs, and played an active role in educating medical students, residents, and clinical staff.

Dr. James has broad expertise in allergy and asthma conditions, his specialties include allergic rhinitis, food and drug allergies, insect sting reactions, asthma in both children and adults, chronic sinus disease, COPD, eosinophilic esophagitis, GERD, hives, angioedema, and other complex conditions. He is passionate about partnering with patients to improve their quality of life through education, personalized treatment, and compassionate care. As a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, Dr. James remains committed to advancing clinical excellence and the latest evidence-based care in the field.

Outside of medicine, Dr. James was born and raised in Mississippi and has spent much of his career in Wisconsin. He and his wife are excited about their move to Florida, where they look forward to serving patients across north central Florida’s communities. He is a proud father of two grown children and enjoys family time, community involvement, and embracing the opportunities of this new chapter in life.
