Bio

Karl Mueller, MD, PhD, is a board-eligible allergist and immunologist passionate about helping patients breathe easier, feel better, and live more comfortably. He was drawn to the specialty because of the opportunity to not only relieve symptoms, but also change the course of allergic disease through treatments like immunotherapy.

He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic Florida and his Allergy & Immunology fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he cared for pediatric and adult patients with a broad range of allergic and immunologic conditions.

Dr. Mueller earned his medical degree, along with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cellular & Molecular Biology, from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, following undergraduate studies in Chemistry and Biology at Tarleton State University. This combined clinical and research background gives him a deep, mechanistic understanding of allergic and immunologic disease that informs his approach to patient care.

His clinical focus includes asthma and related lung disease, allergic rhinitis, hypereosinophilic syndrome and other eosinophilic disorders, and chronic urticaria. He is experienced in the use of biologic therapies, allergen immunotherapy, skin testing, and the comprehensive evaluation of complex allergic and immunologic conditions, including drug allergy, anaphylaxis, and hereditary angioedema.

Dr. Mueller has an active record of scholarly work, having published on asthma outcomes, drug reactions, and related topics in journals such as Mayo Clinic Proceedings, the Journal of the National Medical Association, and Burns, and has presented research at national meetings including the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI) and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) annual meetings. He also holds a Medical Ethics and Humanities Graduate Certificate and has contributed to quality improvement initiatives in anaphylaxis training and inpatient care.

Dr. Mueller is a member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (ACAAI), the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI), the American College of Physicians (ACP), and the American Medical Association (AMA). He is dedicated to providing efficient, patient-centered care grounded in clear communication and evidence-based practice.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Mueller enjoys weightlifting, hiking, and spending time at the beach with his wife and their two rescue dogs.
