AllerVie Health is pleased to share insights from Dr. Joseph Forester’s recent appearance on FOX54’s Wellness Wednesday segment, where he discussed proactive measures Alabama residents can take to manage spring allergies. As the Alabama Department of Health reports, seasonal allergies affect one in four adults in the United States, leading to over 4 million physician office visits annually and ranking as the sixth leading cause of chronic illness nationwide.

Dr. Forester explained that allergy symptoms occur when the immune system identifies pollen as a threat. To help minimize symptoms while enjoying outdoor activities, he recommended wearing a dust mask while mowing the grass and using goggles or safety glasses to protect the eyes from pollen exposure. For many people with mild symptoms, Dr. Forester suggests proactive steps using over the counter solutions to help alleviate symptoms. For persistent symptoms, consulting a healthcare provider about prescription treatments or immunotherapy may provide longer-term relief.

By implementing these strategies, Alabama residents can better navigate the challenges of spring allergies and enjoy the season with reduced discomfort. Watch the full interview here, to hear from Dr. Forester & other local experts on what you can expect from this spring.
